Eric Cantona

I don’t think it’s possibile to find a more colourful athelete than Eric Cantona.
The former distinguished football player is know from his quotes and scandals nerly as much as for his outstanding career. His peak of the form and fame took place after his transfer move to Manchester United, where he drove his team to the first champions title since 26 years and became the top player of the league. But for his ,,best moment’’ he had to wait for 3 more years. It happened during the match vs Crystal Palace in 1995.He was going towards the dressing room at the half-time when he had heard the Palace fan isulting him.Eric ran at him and brough the justice with a kung-fu kick. The day later the frenchman arranged the press conference, which lasted only 16 seconds. ,,When seagulls follow a trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea’’ he said... and left.

He  described himself as a trawler, media as the seagulls and sardines as an explanation he would say to the journalists. The meaning was simple-the player suggested he won’t say anything, as regardless of the words media would make another big story from it.The negative ,,Cantona story’’ is needed by them like a food ,so he doesn’t want to satisfy them.Sincerely, the poetic phrase used by the player is not really  something that should be very shocking.Eric Cantona loves poetry, just as he loves art of any othersort. For example photography, songwriting and cinematography. The Frenchman has directed two movies and has starred in 31.Sometimes acting as himself like for example in ,,Looking for Eric’’. Homever some of this art activities won’t be taking Cantona’s attention for much longer. He says he’s like a butterfly, because of the constant need of change and evolving. He has to switch his interests once a while if he doesn’t want to get bored.

  1. Much as I understand your preference for cliffhangers, I'd rather you finished this story in one episode. Are you going to explain Cantona's mysterious words? Or was cryptic language one of his specialties?
By the way, did you know that Mike Leigh, one of the best known British directors, made a film entitled "Looking for Eric", where Cantona appears as a mentor to the main character?
