In the last days new Wojciech Smarzowski's film is one of the hottest discussion topics. I noted, that Catolical Church is one of the most cristicised institutions and it wouldn't really need complicated, solutions to fight  its' problems. However, these changes are not made because of two main factors: pride (which is connected to idealism) and blind attachment to tradition. I believe, that Roman Church's reputation would grow, by saying for example: "Altough only a margin of priests is involved in pedophilia case, we will openly fight against it", instead of minimilising the problem. No one anymore believes the issue doesn't exist, so surpressing it leads to the faitfuls outcams, which concludes to institution's failure in its' very first mission. I also believe that allowing priests' mariages would be a good move, as the world moved on from the medieval times, and the original reason of a prohibition doesn't seem to be a case anymore. Fully focusing on God also doesn't seem to work. In conclusion i think honesty and admitting to mistakes is often better, than pretending to be ideal.

  1. Have you seen the film?
I think it also shows how lonely an avarage parish priest is and what sort of unsolvable problems he has to deal with: lack of money for anything, including necessary repairs, no people who could really understand him, poor parishioners often suffering from domestic violence, etc. And in all this he is left completely on his own by his superiors, who drive about in limousines and live in palaces filled with servants.
