The newest generation is often described as a society of social media. I believe there is a lot of truth in this sentence and there are some negative consequences of this fact. In the last year or two I discovered a trend involving younger people and their interest. Nowadays, if you look at a teenager in a public transport it would propably watch some 10 seconds video with loud, uncomplicated music. The second option is that it scrolls through some photos with a few word description or none. This observation leads to a very simple conclusion. The point is young people need more and more impulses. They simply get bored when they see a mere text, especially the longer one. There even is a phenomenon in the internet called "attention picture" involving attaching a photo to the post, because otherwise no one would read it.
I think it's quite dangerous as people are going just for media that are not brain developing and may cause problems in focusing when trying to enjoy a more difficult form of perception.

  1. You can refer to people as 'they' if you want to avoid 'he' or 'she' but never 'IT'. IT is reserved for things.
And people need STIMULATION. We all already have our impulses.
