This week I have read an article form The Guardian about Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson, his University Education and the way it affects his present activity.  The article is written by a man, who shared his University classes (although not at the same time, but have attended the same subject in the same school). The studies it is all about was Latin and Greek and an author notices Johnson's eagerness about using this background in the political debate. The esssay is based on three main themes – interwieving university environment on Johnson, quoting times he used his classic education and finally, the author's very critical rewiev of PM's habit and it's foundation.      Although I personally, to say lightly am not a fan of Boris Johnson I found this article quite bizzare and poor. I liked the idea of the article and mere story but the usage of  it could be better to say the least. The essayist wanted to attack the pol...

Last week I watched another episode of ''This week tonight with John Oliver'', this time the topic was public shaming. If you look at the title, it's probably just negative associations that come to your mind. However, yet in the beggining of the show we can observe some examples, where it can bring more good than bad. Nevertheless, public shaming is something that can have extremely dangerous consequences, as it can easily ruin a person's life. It's also a thing, which is today evoilving as never, mainly due to social media. So it's crucial to take under consideration how public shaming can effect, because it's a simple way of deeply hurting for example a private figure, whose story isn't even true as described in the show in a part about ,,the worst aunt ever'' or Monica Lewinski.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq7Eh6JTKIg relentless- He was relentless, he didn't hesitate for a moment and you can see effects of this toug...

Today I watched an episode of ''The last week tonight with John Oliver'' about psychics. To my surprise, such people are becoming more and more popular and influential in United States. They get their own shows in TV and an enormous number of people actually have faith in their power. There was a moment when the host has quoted a survey which had shown that 40% of Americans believe in psychics. As I understood, It was the reason, why he decided to bring this topic up, not beccause it's irrational, absurd and funny, but because it's getting dangerously popular and powerful. The geratest part of a programme was looking into the methods of psychics, which weren't honestly any kind of astonishing spiritualism. So called ''mediums'' have two basic thechniques - cold reading and hot reading. Consequtevely, revealing informations about patients after a research and saying things so probable, they should be true at sam level. litigation- Nowadays in...

Some time ago I watched a video of John Oliver's show called "The last week tonight". This episode was entirely dedicated to the Brexit case. You could find here an analysis of a current situation, reflections about future options and it's consequences, connected with many humorous moments. They were mainly based on abstract, though not senseless, comparisons, which I found really funny. The message of the episode is , that Brexit is probably not the best thing that can happen to Britainn now especially considering it's form (no deal Brexit). Rousing- Rousing speech really moves listeners Specter- The specter is sth probable, but not certain

The newest generation is often described as a society of social media. I believe there is a lot of truth in this sentence and there are some negative consequences of this fact. In the last year or two I discovered a trend involving younger people and their interest. Nowadays, if you look at a teenager in a public transport it would propably watch some 10 seconds video with loud, uncomplicated music. The second option is that it scrolls through some photos with a few word description or none. This observation leads to a very simple conclusion. The point is young people need more and more impulses. They simply get bored when they see a mere text, especially the longer one. There even is a phenomenon in the internet called "attention picture" involving attaching a photo to the post, because otherwise no one would read it. I think it's quite dangerous as people are going just for media that are not brain developing and may cause problems in focusing when trying to enjoy a m...

In the last few months I completely stopped going to commercial cinemas. Instead, I attend to arthouse cinemas and I don't understand why they are less popular. Firstly, they have some  advantages that should appeal to everybody. At least two tmies cheaper tickets, and far shorter commercials are factors, which should probably be convenient for a person, no matter her favourite cinema style is. Secondly, there is almost nothing you can have in a commercial cinema and can't have  in an arthouse as lots of them have also snacks and show some less ambitious movies. I hope it's not a more peaceful atmosphere that scares people off so much, therefore I believe many people make completely irrational decisions just because some option is better advertised and other people choose it.

A week ago, after I finished school I was traveling by bus. Near the beggining of the ride an stranger asked me to take off his backpack at the next stop and I agreed on this. He was tatty, and  around the age of 50. Right after this, he stood up and began to confess to me the story of his life. He was talking about his education and work career for 10 minutes, while I haven't say a word or look like I care even a little. It made me think about how much we (some people even more than others) like the act of speaking. Speaking, that is not focused on interaction with other person and its' opinion, but where a passive listener is actually a gift. Of course, it's an example from the edge, as there's a man with nothing  to lose and possibly under an influence, but I think it appeals wider, especially when talking about ourselves.
